Day 7 – Worship in the Motherland

Rev. LaKeesha takes a break at the Table Bay Hotel

Praise the Lord everybody! Praise the Lord. That exhortation made everyone here laugh yesterday, so I thought that I would open up again like that today. It’s hard to believe that we have only been here seven days. The time difference seems to have the days running together, so seven days feels like two weeks to us. But it’s all good! We are having a great time.

TRev. LaKeesha and Pastor Dawn Campheroday we worshipped at New Faith Ministries with Pastors Jerome and his wife, Dawn Campher, and their congregation. It was an amazing experience. Pastor Jerome and Pastor Dawn birthed this ministry, and they just got into their new building two months ago. They are finishing the building together as a congregation. From the pulpit, in addition to encouraging the members to give, he also asked for volunteers to paint, level the floor, and lay carpet. The congregation responded overwhelmingly with hand claps and shouts of joy.  The pastor arranged for members of his church to transport us in three cars from the hotel. Katrice, Akira, Laurianne, Mother Lumsby, Keemya, Sharon, Dawn and I were off to worship with our sisters and brothers in South Africa!

The service was wonderful! The praise was exhilarating! The message was on time! One soul came to Christ! Praise the Lord! I won’t tell you about the sermon I preached because it is coming back to FCBC, lol. Katrice was at home at New Faith and strongly encouraged the people to ‘get up and worship God,’ today! At the close of service, the pastor asked me to come back to preach at their evening service at 6:00pm.  As you can see in the photo, I was extremely tired. I was concerned that I might fall asleep in the pulpit. He assured us that there would be plenty of opportunities in the future! Wow! We had an amazing time and I am grateful to God for this divine opportunity!

The ladies at the womens confencePraise God for whom all blessings flow! Thank you all for your prayers and comments! Gregory, your wife rushes to my room daily to check out your posts! Mom, thank you for always believing in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself. You are truly a gift from God! Rev. LaKeesha, I can’t say thank you enough for allowing to take this journey with you and experience God moving throughout the world and connecting us with our brothers and sisters in South Africa.

I’m sure the message was on time and on point, and am looking forward to hearing at FCBC. (I know my wife is shaking her head in disbelief right now!)

And the photo (first photo top of the page) is simply beautiful!!! Tired??? NAH!!! If I didn’t know you and saw this photograph, I’d immediately think: “… she’s at peace, happy and in harmony with her soul and her environment.”

Awwwww…. I love you soooo much! Wow….You preached, that is awesome! To God be the glory; you are truly walking in your purpose by allowing God to use you in such a mighty way. I missed your sermon….. shucks! However, I am so happy for you and the other ladies that was blessing ” Preaching in Africa!” I can’t wait to call all my friends and tell them the great news.
As far as your picture at the top you didn’t look tired you look at peace. I look forward to seeing you and hearing more about you experience.

You are such a blessing and I encourage you to continue to allow God to use you because you are definitely a blessing in my life. Your teaching and preaching has had an impact in and on my life, so I know they were filled-up when you were done. To my FCBC sisters that are there with you, you all have touched me in some sort of way through your love and ministry therefore, I know that the women in the conference and the service received a blessing from you too. I love and miss you all and will see you soon.

Greetings, Reverend LaKeesha and the FCBC family and friends. First, I want to thank you for sharing your unforgettable experiences with those who were unable to travel back to the Motherland at this time. I know my day will come when I will embark on my own journey to Africa. I was so intrigued by Day 1 of your blog that I continued to read through to Day 6 in one setting. It is no coincedence you were presented with an opportunity to preach God’s word and several members of the Praise and Worship Team were with you. I have learned God can use us at anytime, any place and anywhere. I miss your peaceful presence and contagious smile. Minister Segars, Rosalie, Dawn, Laurianne, Katrice, Sharon, Keemya, Akira, Carol, Leon, Jerry and you are in my prayers. Looking forward to reading about the remaining days of your journey. By the way, the photos are stunning.

    Blessings,
    Jerlyn

So much has already been eloquently written that echoes my feelings, however, I feel it would be remiss of me not to add a few words of my own. I will refrain from getting all mushy but please know I am grateful you thought enough of your FCBC family to share an experience some of us will never personally realize.

Just as with the FCBC sermons that are freely posted every Sunday so that I do not have to depend on my always incomplete notes, or miss a word when I am not there, I consider every word written a blessing. It serves as a reminder to me that God’s words are always meant to be shared wherever I go and I must always be prepared to do so.

I look forward to all of your safe returns and I cannot wait to hear more about your amazing journey.

Thank you and may God continue to bless you all.

Mission Trip to South Africa 2012… The same year of FCBC’s 100th Anniversary! It would be a perfect way to honor God and the blessing that He has given to us by showing that we are an ever evolving community…..all the way to South Africa!

I know that worship service was awesome and I can’t wait to hear the remix of that sermon. Your husband preached two of the BEST words that I have ever heard about giving and sacrifice on yesterday. God showed that He can be in South Africa and in America at the same time! I am grateful that He is not stingy with His anointing. Thank God for God! I love you.

Rev. LaKeesha, I love you so much. Thank you so much for this vivid portrait of your journey and stay in South Africa. I thank God for the way God has blessed me through your teaching, preaching, fellowship and generosity. You are so selfless and it is so evident to anyone who knows you, meets you or even reads this blog. Although only 13 have traveled to South Africa on this particular trip, several hundreds more of us have traveled with you through your words.
I know the worship service at New Faith was powerful, from the singing of our praise team and exhortations of Katrice to the preached Word God gave you to deliver and the life that was given over to God.
I can imagine how tired you must be, but it certainly doesn’t show in your photo above. You look beautifully at peace.
And, like Tohma said, a 2012 Mission Trip to South Africa would be a wonderful way to experience God’s amazing grace and share how God has blessed FCBC with our South African sisters & brothers.
Looking forward to your next post with eager anticipation. Reading these have been such a joy!!
    Love and miss you all.
    Cheryl Faye
